Everything But...
Persistence is a great human quality to posses. You can see persistence in action by taking a small child into a toy store. It will not take long before the youngster finds something that captivates their interest and they want to make it their own. Denying the child’s request to purchase the item may result in their becoming emotional and possibly even tearful. “Please, I want it. Please, please.” Ultimately, we want to do the best we can for our children and give them what they desire. But when we say “no” to them, they will often persist in pressuring us to give them what they believe they need. However, sometimes we need to convey that “no means no.” So we do our best to comfort the child, and reach through their pain and disappointment, to help them to understand that what we are doing is truly loving them. So it is with God, our Father, and his love for us.
Our prayers are always answered by God, although they are not always the answers that we expect to hear. This is part of the mystery and the grace of God. Our perseverance in prayer is dependent upon our faith in God. Conversely, it is our proclamation of faith in God that keeps bringing us back to prayer. Through this continuous cycle of faith and prayer, we come to know God and realize that his love for us is always there, sometimes in ways that we do not see, do not expect and cannot even imagine.
We must believe that God will always reach us, no matter our pain or disappointment, and touch our hearts with his love. We can experience this through faith and prayer.
